You do not need a YouTube Timestamp account to save notes, start the trial, or activate a lifetime license. AI features use an API key from your chosen provider. A purchase email is required so your license key can be delivered and recovered.

Yes. Deactivate the license on the old installation, then activate it on the new one. If you cannot access the old installation, use Recover license / manage devices in Settings. Export and restore a JSON backup to move your library too; moving the license does not transfer your saved content.

Caption capture depends on what YouTube makes available and may fail for some videos. During your trial or with Pro, you can import plain or timestamped text, SRT, or WebVTT as a fallback. Summaries and video chat need a transcript. Timestamped bookmarks and notes work without one.
Your local library is stored in your Chrome profile and is not automatically synced across devices. When you request an AI summary or chat answer, the transcript, question, and relevant context go to your chosen provider. Its privacy and retention policies apply. Yes. Export your local library as JSON and restore it through the extension's import controls. Backup and restore are free. Keep a backup before changing devices, removing a Chrome profile, or uninstalling the extension; your library is not automatically backed up. API keys and license activation records are excluded from library backups.
The extension is designed for desktop Chrome. Your local library is not available in a mobile browser. Saved content can be read offline, but new AI requests and caption capture need internet access. A lifetime license also needs internet access for activation and periodic checks, with up to 14 days of offline Pro access after a successful check.
